World Mission

 

    Government Street Presbyterian Church annually contributes $75,000 to Presbyterian Church USA mission which supports the work of South Alabama Presbytery, national, and global ministries.

      

    The operating budget of the General Assembly is $124 million, of which $43 million is devoted to supporting worldwide ministries. There are 643 volunteer and compensated mission workers worldwide.

    

    Government Street Presbyterian Church also receives special offerings annually for Disaster Relief through the One Great Hour of Sharing at Easter and the Joy Gift at Christmas for minority education and retired ministers. Other special offerings are received at various times for local and international projects.  

 

    Government Street Presbyterian Church sponsors the Mission Market at Christmas to support projects like Habitat for Humanity, the Heifer Project International, Family Promise's Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN,) Presbyterian Home for Children, Coffee Club and like ministries. Members are invited to make donations to these projects in lieu of personal gifts. Donations are acknowledged to specified recipients.

 

    GSPC supports several missionary families; among them are Frank and Nancy Dimmock in Lesotho, and Dan and Elizabeth Turk in Madagascar.
