Each summer, youth groups from across the United States travel to Mobile to participate in Government Street Presbyterian Church's Urban Mission Camp--a week-long immersion in urban ministry.

At GSPC’s Urban Mission Camp, campers will:
•  Bear witness to the good news of Jesus Christ through service to urban poor
•  Learn about urban issues from those they serve and receive their testimonies about God’s presence in their lives.
•  Reflect on poverty issues in light of Biblical and Reformed understandings of Christian faith.
•  Live together and build Christian community
•  Experience the connectional foundation of the Christian community and the PCUSA
•  Grow spiritually through group and individual worship and devotion

Participants stay at GSPC's newly renovated Baytreat Lodge (see the pictures below) on the beautiful eastern shore of Mobile Bay in Fairhope, AL. The camp is limited to a maximum of 32 combined youth and adults who are divided into smaller mission teams. Larger churches may reserve all 32 spots, and we will combine smaller groups for an even more exciting adventure in Christian community. Mission sites may include Coffee Club (GSPC's weekday breakfast for the homeless), the L'Arche Community, Boys' and Girls' Club of South Alabama, and 15 Place (Homeless Day Center). Spending the night at the Waterfront Rescue Mission has been the highlight for nearly every camper in the last several years.  Click here to see a photo of UMC at L'Arche in 2006.
