Potential Mission Sites

Dumas-Wesley Community Center has a day program for children ages eighteen months to fourteen years old.  Projects include playing with children between ages six years and fourteen years old.

L’Arche (French word for the Ark pronounced larsh) is a community of adults with mental and physical handicaps that live together with non-handicapped adults.  Projects include cleaning, repairs and spending time with members at the activity center.

15 Place is a day center for the homeless where they may go to shower, get mail, wash clothes, have job interviews, and eat.  Campers will eat lunch here with homeless and low-income guests Monday-Wednesday.

Waterfront Rescue Mission is a homeless shelter and drug/alcohol rehabilitation center.  For the campers, time spent here will consist of getting to know those who have made the mission their temporary home through meals, worship, and personal testimonies.  In the past, campers have spent the night.

Coffee Club is a breakfast program for the poor and homeless served every weekday morning at Government Street Presbyterian Church.  Campers will participate in the preparation, serving and cleaning up after meals, and converse with the homeless.

Habitat for Humanity is a residential building program for lower-income families through volunteer efforts and donations.  Projects may include light construction, painting, site cleaning and landscaping.

Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of South Alabama has several programs throughout Mobile and Baldwin Counties for children and youth from low-income and indigent families.  Projects may include recreational activities with children, yard work and general facility maintenance.

United Methodist Inner City Mission provides a variety of services to low income inner city residents, including daily breakfast, a homeless shelter for single women, emergency assistance, summer day camp and lunch program, and various programs and activities for senior citizens and at-risk youth.
